Kannur: A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) has come out with crucial revelations about the Mohammed Fasal murder case in which some CPM workers are accused.

Former DySP K. Radhakrishnan has informed a news channel that when the investigation reached a stage of CPM partymen also being implicated, the then Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan asked him directly to stop the enquiry.

When the enquiry leads reached those like Karayi Chandrashekharan, Kodiyeri came over to Kannur and asked him to suspend the enquiry. With this, the investigation was transferred from police to Crime Branch. Thereafter, there was an assassination attempt on him with the help of the police, Radhakrishnan revealed. He was under treatment for the injuries for a year and a half. In the meantime, he was suspended under false cases. And although he was conferred IPS, he did not get any appointment or salary for one and a half years.

Radhakrishnan also said there was mystery in the deaths of two people who had provided crucial information in the Fasal murder case. Advocate Valsaraja Kurup, and Panchara Shinil are the two who were killed. The death of one of them was blamed on blade mafia.

K. Radhakrishnan was in supervisory charge of the team which initially investigated the murder of former NDF (National Development Front) worker Fasal that took place in JT Road, Thalassery at dawn on 22 October 2006. Currently the case is being handled by the CBI.
