Rashid and Munvvar Ali Thangal express regret for participating in Mujahid conference
text_fieldsMalappuram: Panakkad Rashid Ali Shihab Thangal and Munvvar Ali Shihab Thangal, who were under criticism from the leadership of Samastha Kerala Jem-Iyyathul Ulema over their participation in the Mujahid state conference, have expressed regret for their action.
Rashid and Munvvar Ali expressed regret before a five-member committee, set up by the Samastha to recommend action against the two. The committee that comprises Samastha president Syed Muhammad Jiffri Muthukoya Thangal, vice president Panakkad Syed Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal, general secretary Prof. K Alikutty Musliyar, M T Abdullah Musliyar, and Dr Bahauddeen Muhammed Nadwi had met at Panakkad on Tuesday evening.
As per reports, the organization has ceased further action against the two leaders in view of their admission.
According to sources, the leaders assured the committee members that they stand firm in the principles of Samastha and are honest in their activities for the organization. Expressing regret for their participation in the Mujahid conference, the leaders said they would in future discuss with the outfit’s leadership before attending any such events.
An urgent meeting of the available members of the Mushawara (supreme body) of the Samastha and the office-bearers of the affiliated organizations under the Sunni body, held at its headquarters at Chelari in Malappuram district on Monday, had entrusted the committee to recommend action against Panakkad Rashid Ali Shihab Thangal and Munvvar Ali Shihab Thangal.
Rashid and Munvvar Ali Thangal had attended two sessions of the four-day Mujahid conference on Saturday, despite Samastha leaders' strong objection. The workers of the outfit also criticized them for the action.
Rashid Ali Thangal is the Malappuram district president of Sunni Mahal Federation while Munvvar Ali is the chairman of Trend, the education wing of SKSSF.
