Interest-free loans for flood victims, Kerala CM
text_fieldsThiruvanthapuram: The government is mulling over a proposal to provide interest-free loans to flood victims.
The initiative, among others, is under consideration to help people who suffered losses in the flood, according to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan,
Government had initiated discussions with banks for providing easy loans to flood victims, he briefed media after the review meeting.
Alongside, a detailed rehabilitation plan is on the anvil, and efforts are on to clean up and repair house, and replace damaged equipment.
After visiting relief camps in Chengannur, Kozhenchery, Alapuzha, Paravur and Chalakudy, the chief minister said that displaced families had started returning home.
Also, he said District Collectors had been directed to shift relief camps from school to other buildings.
He also said that disaster-prone areas would be avoided while chalking out housing projects for the rehabilitation of flood victims.
