Five trains cancelled following heavy rains, flood

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rains and landslides have claimed the lives of more than 40 people in Kerala.

At least 12 districts namely Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod, Malappuram, Palakkad, Idukki, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta have sounded red alert while Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts have issued high alert as torrential rain continue to lash several parts of the state.

The downpour has disrupted traffic and caused waterlogging in several parts of the state.

The Cochin International Airport has also suspended all its flight operations till Saturday.

Five passenger trains have been cancelled following heavy rains. Nagercoil-Kochuveli, Kollam-Punalur, Kollam-Chenkotta and Edamann passenger trains have been cancelled.

Island Express, Jayanti Janata Express and Ernad Express are also likely to be delayed.
