Kannur Corporation for LDF

Kannur: The LDF has assumed power in the newly formed Kannur Corporation after the dramatic events witnessed until the last moment.

LDF’s E P Lata has been elected as the Mayor of the corporation with the support of the Congress rebel P K Ragesh.

Lata secured 28 votes while the UDF candidate got 27.

Meanwhile, the CPI(M) said they would support P K Ragesh for the deputy mayor post if he showed willingness.

“If he is ready, we will support him for the deputy mayor post,” CPI(M) Kannur district secretary P.Jayarajan said.

When reporters’ asked about the latest development, Congress leader K.Sudhakaran said: “ I will respond tomorrow.”
