Senior executives from SpaceX met Indian Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday as the company advanced plans to launch satellite internet services in India.

The delegation included Gwynne Shotwell and Lauren Dreyer, who discussed the company’s India strategy with the minister.

Separately, SpaceX signed an agreement with the Government of Meghalaya to pilot Starlink high-speed satellite internet services in the state.

The pilot project will focus on improving connectivity in remote and underserved areas of Meghalaya.

However, the rollout will depend on Starlink receiving spectrum allocation from Indian authorities, a regulatory requirement that must be completed before commercial services can begin.

The twin developments signal renewed momentum in Starlink’s India plans as the company works with both the central government and state authorities to expand its satellite broadband presence.
