Thiruvananthapuram: A city-based private company has come out with a new unmanned, self-cleaning e-toilet for schools, which it claims is the cheapest in the market.

Eram Scientific, manufacturers of India's first e-toilet, said the product, 'e-Lite14' also has an in-built solar panel and metallic platform.

"This model, designed for schools, has automated self-cleaning and washing mechanisms and automatic floor wash system," K Anvar Sadath, Chief Executive Officer of the company said in a release on Tuesday.

The company claimed their product comes in the wake of the 'Clean India Campaign' launched by the government.

"This is our contribution to the nation and comes as a response to the 'Clean India Campaign' announced by Government of India. It perfectly matches with the 'Make in India' campaign as well," said Siddeek Ahmed, Chairman of Eram Group.

The company had also submitted a request to the Centre for Excise Duty and Tax exemption, Sadath said Eram Scientific has deployed over 600 e-toilets in 11 states in the country, out of which more than 200 are in schools, the release said.
