Improper to appoint Sathasivam as Governor, says Sudheeran
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: KPCC president V.M Sudheeran Sunday has said it is improper to appoint former Supreme Court Chief Justice P Sathasivam as the Kerala Governor.
"It's the chief justice of the country that swears in the president of our country. After that a person in that post going to serve under the president does not augur well," Sudheeran told reporters here.
"I feel this aspect should be open to debate by all, including constitutional experts. I do not think it's apt," he said.
The NDA government has recommended to the President the name of former Chief Justice of India P. Sathasivam for appointment as Governor of Kerala, a post recently vacated by former Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit.
This is the first time that top personalities from the judiciary are being considered for a Governor’s post.
