SC extends bail to Ma’dani
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Supreme Court Friday extended the term of bail for Bangalore serial blasts case accused Abdul Nasser Ma’dani for one month.
Dismissing the Karnataka government’s plea seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Ma’dani, the apex court observed the visitors coming to meet patients are quite natural and it should not be seen wrongly.
The Karnataka government Thursday had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the bail granted alleging that Ma'dani has been misleading the court in the name of medical treatment and that several VIPs visited him in the hospital every day.
In the affidavit, the government also sought direction to send Ma’dani to judicial custody, contending that his followers from Kerala and others convened a public function at the Freedom Park in Bangalore demanding his release and only to intimidate the government in general and witnesses in particular.
The PDP leader was released from the Bangalore Central Prison July 14. His release, four years after his arrest, followed the granting of a one-month bail by the Supreme Court on health grounds. His bail was later extended on August 11 for two weeks.
