New Delhi: CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat Saturday said the party did not discuss the matter of the merger of the Communist parties.
"The matter has not yet come up for discussion. The party needs to address the ideological and political challenges before discussing the merger of the Communist parties," he told reporters here.
When asked about CPI-M politburo member M.A Baby’s speech calling for the unity of the Communist parties, Karat said he did not know the details about his speech.
CPI-M politburo member M.A. Baby said Saturday the two Communist parties should unite, as this is the need of the hour. He was speaking at a commemorative meeting in Thrissur for former chief minister C. Achutha Menon.
