Back in her home village of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank, she is greeted with banners, cheers and waving Palestinian flags.

Tamimi rose to international fame after she was filmed by her mother as slapping and kicking two Israeli soldiers.

The video went viral on Facebook, turning her into a symbol of Palestinian resistance.

The incident took place during the protests against US president Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli’s capital.

In a scuffle that followed Israeli troops had wounded her 15-year-old cousin in the head with rubber bullet.

The viral video showed Tamimi and her cousin approaching two soldiers asking them to leave her yard.

Tamimi went berserk shoving, kicking and slapping the two soldiers.

Ahed Tamimi, more aggressive of the two in the video, was nabbed four days after the incident in the wee hours of December 19.

She was 16 at the time. Her cousin Nour, and mother Nariman were also arrested.

An Israeli military court sentenced both mother and Tamimi to eight months. Nour was freed in March.

Following the viral video, Tamimi’s image has been painted over Israel’s separation wall cutting off the West Bank.

Those praised her resolve included Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas.

People on Israeli side praised the restraint of soldiers as the cousins blustered through kicking and shoving.
