Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman conductor with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has died from injuries sustained after allegedly being pushed out of a moving bus by a passenger during a dispute over bus fare and change.

Gundla Pravalika, who worked at the Manuguru depot in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, died at a private hospital in Hyderabad late Tuesday after battling for her life for 10 days.

The incident occurred on October 25 near Mittagudem village when Pravalika reportedly got into an argument with a passenger, identified as Mounika, over the fare for her son and the return of change. After the passenger paid Rs 100, the conductor reportedly asked her to collect the balance later as she did not have sufficient change.

During the argument, the passenger allegedly pushed Pravalika out of the moving bus. She fell beneath its rear wheels, which crushed her right leg, while her left leg also suffered severe injuries.

She was initially taken to a hospital in Bhadrachalam before being shifted to Hyderabad for specialised treatment. Police have taken the accused passenger into custody and registered a case.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed condolences and assured the bereaved family of government support. The state government announced Rs 10 lakh in compensation, a house under the Indiramma Indlu scheme and a government job for Pravalika's mother.

Meanwhile, TGSRTC employees observed a bandh across the undivided Khammam district on Wednesday, demanding stringent action against those responsible.
