US plans to strengthen ties with India to stop China's campaign: Pentagon
text_fieldsWashington: The US Defence Department announces its stand to stop China's campaign to establish control over the East China Sea, Taiwan Strait, South China Sea, and disputed land borders such as with India, reports say.
National Defense Strategy 2022 released on Thursday sets the strategic direction of the Defence Department to support US national security priorities.
Given what it calls Chinese aggression, the Biden administration laid out plans to advance defence ties with India to deter Chinese aggression in disputed land borders.
"The Department will advance our Major Defence Partnership with India to enhance its ability to deter PCR (People's Republic of China) aggression and ensure free and open access to the Indian Ocean region," the document reportedly said.
The US report considered the perceived threat from China as "the most consequential and systematic challenge", and added that Russia on the other hand poses acute threat to vital US interests abroad and the homeland.
It also pointed out People's Republic of China's increasingly aggressive endeavor to "refashion" the indo-Pacific region as well as international system to suit its interests.
The US has long since considered China a force to be reckoned with.
And there has since been a cold war-like situation happening between two nations.
It is only getting worse as the China started flexing its muscles in the Indo-Pacific region.
And most recently, tension got blown up when the US house speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, which China claims as part of its territory.
Now the US has found an alley in India in its move against China , which is best expressed in the report by the US defence.
