UP exam paper leak: govt cancels conducted exam; orders retest
cancel

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government cancelled the recently conducted recruitment exam for police constables in the state following allegations that the exam paper was leaked. The administration also ordered a re-test within six months, PTI reported.

The Uttar Pradesh government announced a probe into the allegations by the Special Task Force (STF).

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reacted by saying that it was the youth's victory and the students' power that caused the exam to be cancelled. He added that those who unite will succeed, but those who divide will be crushed.

He wrote on X, "Big victory for student power and youth unity! Uttar Pradesh Police Exam was finally cancelled. The message is clear - no matter how much the government tries to suppress the truth, our rights can be won only by fighting unitedly."

"Those who unite will win, those who divide will be crushed," he also said in his post in Hindi, using hashtags "#YuvaNYAY" and "#UPP_REEXAM," he wrote.

His sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, also a prominent leader of the party, also reacted along similar lines. She said that the UP government was made to bow before the power of youth. She added that the government was denying the paper leak till the last day, and when their lie failed before the power of youth, they decided to cancel the exam.

She accused the Adityanath-led BJP state government of corruption and a careless and misleading attitude, citing the paper leak incident.

More than 48 lakh candidates appeared in the examination conducted across the state on February 17 and 18.

More than 240 people were arrested and detained by the police across Uttar Pradesh for allegedly adopting or planning to use unfair means in the recruitment exam.
