Entertainment: Anand Ekarshi’s English short film Isle of the Golden Swan has been officially selected for the Indian Film Festival of New Zealand 2026, marking a significant step onto the international film festival circuit. The film will also have its world premiere at the festival.

Directed by Anand Ekarshi, the short features an ensemble cast led by Prakash Raj, Kavya Ramachandran, Arjun Radhakrishnan and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya. Actor Zarin Shihab appears in a special role. The film is produced by Vinod Kailas, with Anand C. Chandran handling cinematography.

The technical team includes editor Mahesh Bhuvanend, composer Basil C.J. and sound designer Ranganath Ravi. The film brings together a prominent cast and an experienced creative crew, heightening anticipation ahead of its festival premiere.

Isle of the Golden Swan also marks the latest work from Ekarshi,, following the major success of his debut feature Aattam. The film won three National Film Awards, securing honours for Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay and Best Editing. It was also selected as the opening film of the Indian Panorama section at the 54th International Film Festival of India.

The international selection of Isle of the Golden Swan further highlights Ekarshi’s growing presence in the Indian film industry. Following the critical and national recognition earned by Aattam, the short’s selection in New Zealand and its world premiere there represent another notable milestone in the filmmaker’s career.
