Chandigarh: Three women died, and two got injured after a truck allegedly rammed into a group of seven women farmers, who were part of the farm-law-protests, Thursday early morning, The Indian Express reported. The unfortunate incident happened in the Jhajjar district of Harayana.

The women were waiting for an autorickshaw to return to their village in Mansa, Punjab when the incident happened. Around six in the morning, a group of seven women farmers were waiting, sitting in the median on the road to go to the railway station. The tipper truck, carrying dust, rammed into the group, and two of them died on the spot.

The injured were rushed to the civil hospital and referred to PGI Rohtak for treatment. The third died enroute Rohtak hospital. Two women are reported out of danger, police said. The victims were identified as Amarjeet Kaur, Gurmail Kaur and Harsinder Kaur, while the injured were Gurmel Kaur and Harmeet Kaur.

The truck driver escaped from the spot abandoning the vehicle. He is yet to be arrested, police added.

Bharatiya Kisan Union, Ugrahan, member Satwant Singh said that the women were returning home as part of a rotation. They were part of the protests. The truck driver is suspected of having fallen asleep at the wheel, he added.
