NIA raids 72 locations, intensifying crackdown on gangster-terror networks
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Investigating a gangster case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has swooped down on 72 locations across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi-NCR.
NIA officials are currently raiding the home of an arms supplier in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit finding out arms brought in from Pakistan, according to India Today.
Acting on inputs gathered from raids, NIA reportedly quizzed dozens of gangsters belonging to Lawrence Bishnoi and Neeraj Bawana groups, recovering several weapons on Tuesday.
Sources told India Today that NIA collected information on nexus between gangsters and Pakistan’s ISI, just as the reports say the central agency carried out four rounds of raids in the case.
Seizing huge cache of weapons, the central agency arrested many gangsters and charged under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, according to the report. A previous raid in October last year saw NIA combing 50 locations in five states looking for nexus among terrorists, gangsters and drug traffickers.
The central agency reportedly is set to continue target terror networks, their funding and support infrastructure.
