NCERT unveils new class 5 and 8 textbooks aligned with NEP 2020
text_fieldsThe National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced new textbooks for Classes 5 and 8, developed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023.
The initiative is aimed at promoting imagination, creativity, and a deeper conceptual understanding among students.
Announcing the development on X.com (formerly Twitter), NCERT revealed that two new titles have been released for Class 8 — Curiosity, a Science textbook, and Kaushal Bodh, a Vocational Education textbook.
In addition, several other textbooks have been launched as part of this new rollout:
- Malhar – Hindi Textbook (Class 8)
- Veena – Hindi Textbook (Class 5)
- Santoor – English Textbook (Class 5)
- Kriti – Art Textbook (Class 8)
- Poorvi – English Textbook (Class 8)
These books continue NCERT's ongoing efforts to transition to NEP 2020-compliant materials, following earlier releases for Classes 1, 2, 3, and 6 in previous years.
Although the newly released Class 5 and 8 textbooks are currently not available in physical or digital formats, they have been listed on Amazon and are expected to be available for purchase soon.
