The Indian army has closed off the Thanamandi-Rajouri road in order to conduct a eide-range search operation for militants eho have reportedly been spotted in the Khablan forest area of Jammu and Kashmir. Senior police officers have claimed the presence of 5 to 7 militants who infiltrated India via the LoC through the Rajouri-Poonch districts.

The area is also near Dehra ki Gali where five army officers were killed by militants in a month long prolonged conflict which has seen 9 military personnel killed. A raid in Chamrel forests revealed a cache of supplies for militants which led to the detaining of several civilians who are accused of providing them with logistical support.

Three militants were killed by police in Rajouri's Pangai area along the Mughal Road on August 6 and 19. On October 24, a jailed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, who was taken on transit remand to lead security forces to the militant hideout, was killed, and two policemen and a soldier injured.
