Manipur: autopsy of 6 bodies reveals horrendous details of torture
text_fieldsImphal: The autopsy report of six members of a family whose bodies were found floating in a river in Manipur a few days ago revealed disturbing details of torture imparted on them. The six people from the Meitiei family were allegedly kidnapped and killed by Kuki-Zo militants in Jiribam district. The report states that the eyeballs of a 10-month-old and that of a woman were missing, while bullet injuries were noted on an eight-year-old girl, India Today reported.
The baby boy’s body was in a state of thawing with a chopping wound and dislocation of the head. Though the baby was wearing a T-shirt and vest, his body was found decomposing.
The eight-year-old carried extensive injuries and bullet wounds on the abdomen. Another 31-year-old woman among the six sustained bullet injuries and a crushed scalp. She also had damaged skull bones and missing membranes. These chilling details of the woman, child and the infant were made public on Thursday. The family’s bodies were recovered from the Barak River.
An earlier autopsy report showed a man among them lost one eye and had a bullet wound in the skull. Other parts of his body had cut wounds, fractures and lacerations. Another woman among them had three bullet wounds in the chest and another in the buttocks.
The eldest woman among them suffered five bullet wounds in the chest, skull, abdomen and arm. There were deep lacerations on many parts of the bodies of the two women.
The family of the Meitei community went missing from a relief camp in Jibiram after a gunfight between security forces and suspected Kuki-Zo militants. The fight resulted in the death of ten militants on November 11.
