India reaffirms support for negotiated two-State solution in Palestine
text_fieldsJerusalem: India has once again expressed its support for a negotiated two-State solution to the Palestine issue and called for sustained humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary in charge of Consular, Passport and Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs, conveyed India’s position during a meeting with Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Palestine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, on Tuesday.
The discussions covered the entire range of India-Palestine relations, including the extensive development cooperation programmes being undertaken by the two sides, the Representative Office of India to Palestine said in a post on X.
“India reiterated its longstanding support for a negotiated two-State solution,” the mission said, adding that the two sides also discussed the need to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza through continuous aid, dialogue and diplomatic efforts.
The meeting was part of Ranganathan’s official visit to Egypt, Palestine and Lebanon from August 16 to 21.
During the visit, she also met Khalid Manzalawi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, on Monday. Their talks focused on implementing the Executive Programme 2026-28, adopted at the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
The discussions included plans for concrete cooperation in new and emerging areas. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the India-Arab partnership, the Indian Embassy in Egypt said in a post on X.
Ranganathan had earlier addressed the inaugural session of the India-Egypt BRICS Partnership Conference in Cairo on Sunday. The event was organised by the Indian Embassy in Egypt in association with the Indian Council of World Affairs.
She outlined the priorities of India’s BRICS chairship for 2026 and highlighted the importance of the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership in promoting closer cooperation within BRICS.
She also said the partnership could contribute to advancing the priorities of the Global South.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Ranganathan is scheduled to meet her counterparts and other stakeholders during her official visit to the three countries.
