Hyderabad: Taking a jibe at Yogi Adityanath, AIMIM leader Asadudin Owaisi on Sunday said that the names of those who wish to rename Hyderabad shall be changed but not Hyderabad's. Owaisi was responding to the UP Chief Minister's claim that if BJP wins in the state of Telangana, they will rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. Without taking his name, Owaisi said that the entire generation of those who wish to rename Hyderabad will end but the city's name would remain.

"The people must retaliate to those prepping to change the name of the home city. It does not feel like the elections are happening in Hyderabad. It feels like this is an election to choose the Prime Minister in place of Narendra Modi. The only one missing from the campaign is Trump," added Owaisi.

While attending a roadshow as part of the campaign of the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Elections, Yogi had announced, "Some people were asking me if Hyderabad can be renamed as Bhagyanagar. I said - why not?" Yogi renamed Faizabad as Ayodhya and Allahabad as Prayagraj once he came to power in Uttar Pradesh. "Then why Hyderabad can't be renamed as Bhagyanagar?" he added.
