Hyderabad: A Zomato delivery agent on horseback was seen in a video trotting down a busy street in the city, catching people’s eyes.

The mounted man carried out food delivery creating a flutter on social media, The News Minute reported.

The agent was seen clad in the signature red Zomato uniform with a delivery bag bouncing on his shoulders.

The caption to the video, uploaded by X user ‘Arbaaz The Great, suggests he chose horse over two-wheelers due to long queues at petrol pumps.

Long queues were reported at several petrol stations in the city following strike by truck drivers who were protesting a new law for hit-and run cases.

The protest fueled rumours of potential fuel shortage triggering panic buying on Tuesday in several cities including Hyderabad.

Many on social media praised the mounted man for his resourcefulness and adaptability.

At least some people humorously asked whether the horse ride would impact on delivery times.

Despite the video went viral, Zomato has not yet commented on the incident.

Truck drivers raised protest against provisions in Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita legislation that will hand out a maximum sentence of 10 years and fines for hit-and-run accidents, according to report.

The nationwide strike began on January 1 impacted fuel distribution, leading to shortages and panic buying.

Snaky queues were formed at several petrol stations in areas including Afzalgunj, Banjara Hills, Nampally, Begumpet, Langar Houz, and Gachibowli.

The protest by truck drivers ended on Tuesday night after Centre assured talk ahead of implementing the new provisions.
