In Chikkamangaluru, Bajrang Dal organizer Ajith (34) was admitted to Mudigere Government Hospital after being attacked by Muslim youths near Banakal police station. The incident occurred while Ajith was travelling with a Muslim woman, and he was beaten up on the road. The violence is believed to be connected to Bajrang Dal's campaign against Congresswoman Nayana Motamma, who won the Mudigere SC reservation constituency, a seat previously held by the BJP.
Meanwhile, in Chikkaballapur, two youths identified as K. Saddam (21) and M. Wayeed (20) were arrested by the police on Friday following a complaint of moral hooliganism. The complaint alleged that the youths targeted a Hindu youth who was having a meal with a Muslim woman at a local hotel. The police are currently searching for an accomplice named Imran in relation to the incident.
According to the Chikkaballapur police, the incident unfolded when the young couple visited the 'Gopika Chats' hotel in Chikkaballapur Angadi to have food. Upon realizing that the young woman was Muslim, a group of young men attacked the Hindu youth accompanying her. The case was registered based on the victim's complaint of violence and the circulation of footage depicting the incident on social media platforms.
These incidents have raised concerns about the growing tensions and confrontations between different communities. Authorities and law enforcement agencies are expected to address the issue promptly and take necessary actions to maintain peace and harmony among different religious groups.
