Gujarat school principal facing probe after students 'enrolled' as BJP members
text_fieldsNew Delhi: An inquiry has been launched after students of a school were allegedly enrolled as Bharatiya Janata Party members through their parents’ phones, The Wire reported.
Following this development, the district education officer of Surandranagar in Gujarat issued a notice to the principal of the M.R. Gardi Secondary and Higher Secondary School in Anindra village.
It is reported that a Class-2 officer was tasked to carry out a departmental inquiry and submit a report within three days.
The incident comes a week after State BJP chief and Union Jal Shakti minister C.R. Patil launched in Ahmedabad the party’s ambitious 2 crore membership drive ‘Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024’.
It is reported citing Vibes of India that students were asked to bring their parents’ mobile phones to the event.
Handing them national flags, Secondary school students were photographed before being registered as BJP members through their parents’ phones.
However, the school’s principal, Mukesh Nimavat claimed the phones were for downloading a government educational app.
Meanwhile K.C Patel denied any involvement in it saying that official party membership can only be registered at the booth level, and added that ‘technology’ prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from joining the party.
Congress spokesperson Dr Manish Doshi alleged the BJP was using teachers for support ahead of upcoming teacher union elections.
