New Delhi: Following protocol controversy over receiving a German minister to the G 20 meet, the German Ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann said Indian protocol was outstanding
Philipp Ackermann was allaying controversy after the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock was asked to stay on the plane awhile but she decided to come out without receiving a line in Delhi, news agency ANI reported.
Ackermann said the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s entry was entirely a German problem.
Ackermann, who is also the Germany envoy to Bhutan, made it clear that the German minister's plane landed a little early in Delhi.
The Germany envoy added that German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock was one of the first ministers to arrive in Delhi on Thursday to attend the G20 Foreign ministers' meeting.
"She had some breakfast and then spontaneously decided to leave the plane without the receiving line being formed. But that was an entire German problem," the German ambassador reportedly said.
The German ambassador said the minster’s leaving of the aircraft earlier than was to happen had nothing to do with Indian protocol.
" I can only say again and again the Indian protocol has done outstanding work this week. It is really, really more than anything I've seen in a protocol in my life. And they did that very graciously. Fantastically," he was quoted as saying.
The envoy said that the minister, who came out of the plane as the video on social media showed, was laughing thinking it was quite funny, adding that she is not a pretentious person.
