Ex-Kerala Police chief Jacob Thomas joins RSS, calls it a "unifying force"
text_fieldsFormer Kerala Police chief Jacob Thomas has joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a full-time 'pracharak', calling the organisation a "unifying force."
Speaking at an RSS event in Kochi on Vijayadashami, Thomas said the Sangh aims to create individuals with cultural strength.
"With more such individuals among us, the society will become stronger, and it will lead to the strengthening of the nation," Thomas said, dressed in the traditional RSS uniform. He added that the RSS seeks to build a strong nation through empowered individuals.
Thomas asserted that the RSS has no caste, religion, language, or regional factionalism. Responding to criticism that the RSS is a religious organisation, he cited his own example: "I studied at St Mary's School and then at St George's College. I practised the Christian religion and is today presiding over an RSS function on its 100th anniversary."
Jacob Thomas is also a former Director of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) in Kerala. He had joined the BJP in 2021 before recently announcing his decision to join the RSS.
Last year, former Kerala DGP R Sreelekha, the first woman IPS officer in the Kerala cadre, joined the BJP. Former DGP TP Senkumar has also aligned himself with the RSS.
