Guwahati: The BJP has secured Dhemaji, where Ranoj Pegu won by a margin of 32,229 votes against Congress candidate Sailen Sonowal. The party is also leading in key constituencies including Jalukbari and Jorhat, where Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi are in the fray.

Himanta Sarma’s lead in Jalukbari has widened to 41,798 votes against Congress’s Bidisha Neog after round 9 of 18. In Jorhat, Hitendra Nath Goswami is leading by 19,626 votes over Gaurav Gogoi after round 13 of 14. Pradyut Bordoloi, now contesting on a BJP ticket, is ahead in Dispur by 32,285 votes after round 12 of 20.

Overall, the BJP-led alliance is leading in 97 seats, while the Congress is ahead in 27 and the AIUDF in 2 constituencies
