Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police force have announced the killing of a suspected 'hybrid' terrorist who was on his way to murder a shopkeeper in Baramulla. The terrorist opened fire on the army and police officials in the Cherdari area of Baramulla and was shot dead in retaliation according to the statement of J&K police.

The terrorist suspect has been identified as Javed Ah Wani, who hails from the Kulgam district. He had also assisted in the killing of 2 Bihari migrant labourers in Wanpoh by fellow terrorist Gulzar who was shot dead in another encounter on October 20. Ah Wani is not listed as a terrorist officially but is suspected of aiding and abetting them which comes under the classification of 'hybrid' terrorist.

"1 pistol, 1 loaded magazine and 1 Pak grenade were recovered from his possession," the police statement reads. Pakistani involvement is suspected in the recent infiltration of militants in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir, who have been engaging the army and police in sporadic encounters. 9 soldiers of the Indian Army have lost their lives in the encounters so far.

The number of civilians killed in targeted attacks by these militants in J&K this month to 11. The attack on the two migrant labourers took place on October 17 and was the third attack on non-local labourers in less than 24 hours, sparking panic amongst other immigrants in the area.
