New Delhi: India eschewed voting in the UN Security Council resolution on Ukraine. Is there any astute move in the decision?

With this step, official sources in Delhi view, India is getting the option to reach out all sides for a middle ground. This approach could foster dialogue and diplomacy.

India's decision came hours after Russia began pounding Ukraine, laying to waste the capital Kyiv.

When the issue came up before UN, Russia vetoed the resolution that asked Moscow to stop attack on Ukraine and withdraw all troops.

With the war going on churning out refugees and Indian students getting trapped in borders, India according to a PTI report is 'deeply disturbed".

However the nation maintained its consistent, steadfast and balanced position on the matter, the report said quoting sources.

According to officials, dialogue is the only sesame to settle differences and disputes.

Remaining in touch with all side, India is urging parties to the crisis to talk at the negotiating table.

UN Security Council strongly deplored Russia's invasion in Ukraine, demanding the nation to stop attack.

As well as not casting the vote, the "Explanation of Vote" issued by India after the vote called for "return to the path of diplomacy".

The sources said India called for respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state and pitched for an immediate cessation of violence and hostilities, the PTI reported.
