New Delhi: At least three exit polls that came out after the final phase of polls predict that the BJP may hit the target of 400 seats, NDTV reported.

PM Modi set out the campaign claiming to win more than 400 seats which the Opposition relentlessly mocked alongside poll pundits predicted tough battle for the saffron party.

Now that the polls are over and the results just hours away, exit polls largely predict a third term for the BJP, with debates surrounding only numbers.

News 24-Today's Chanakya has predicted 400 seats for the BJP’s NDA and two other polls put the figures over 400 on the upper end.

The exit polls have put the margin of error at 15 meaning on the lower end the total tally could be less than 385 but on the upper side the numbers could be 415.

India TV-CNX has predicted that NDA will hit the range of 371-401 on the upper limit but India Today-Axis My India put the numbers at 361-401.

In the last Lok Sabha polls in 2019, the BJP won 303 seats on its own while the total tally of NDA was 352.

A third consecutive term for the BJP means that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make history.

India Today-Axis My India also predicted a minimum tally of 361 for NDA, underlining better performance. It is also suggestive of zero anti-incumbency factor and will underline PM Modi’s solid popularity.

The Opposition INDIA bloc claimed on Saturday of winning 295 seats but Today's Chanakya has given them 107, 109-139 by CNX and 131-166 by Axis My India.
