New York: Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty's first wife Helena Luke died in the US on November 3, IANS reported.

Helena Luke, who appeared in the 1985 Amitabh Bachchan starrer Mard playing the role of British queen, stayed away from the spotlight for several years.

Her marriage with Mithun Chakraborty lasted for just four months, before he married actress Yogita Bali.

Luke acted in a string of Bollywood films like Do Gulaab, Aao Pyaar Karen, and Bhai Aakhir Bhai Hota Hai.

Her last post on social media on Sunday said ‘Feeling weird. Mixed emotions and no clue why, discombobulated’.

Luke, who moved to the US after her brief marriage ended and then worked in the airline industry, said in an interview that her marriage with Mithun Chakraborty was ‘ a nightmare’.

‘I only wish it hadn't happened, he was the one who brainwashed me into believing that he was the man for me, unfortunately, he succeeded,’ she was quoted as saying.

Addressing the rumours about their reconciliation back then, she said she would never go back to the actor even if he was the richest person around.

She said she had not asked for alimony, adding ‘it was a nightmare, and it's over. I really believed him when he told me that he loved me,’ adding that ‘when I got to know him better, I realised that he loved no one but himself.’

She said the yesteryear's superstar was ‘extremely immature, and though I was years younger than him, I felt much older,’ adding that ‘he was very possessive and accused me of seeing my ex-boyfriend Javed on the sly’.

Mithun Chakraborty, who won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award last month, was last seen in the Bengali film Shastri released on October 8, 2024.
