Jaya Bachchan returns to acting

Although Jaya Bachchan has occasionally come out of her long hiatus from the industry to do occasional films like in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham', the actress has not done a major full-length role in many years. Now reports suggest that she will be joining the sets of Marathi filmmaker Gajendra Ahire.

The yet-untitled film will go on floors in March with a shooting schedule of 20 days. Ahire is a celebrated name in the Marathi film industry with critically acclaimed films under this belt like 'The Silence' and 'Shevri'.

Bachchan is currently a full-time politician and a serving Rajya Sabha member from the Samajwadi Party. She is currently serving her fourth term after being re-elected in 2018. The actress was last seen in Arjun Kapoor's 'Ki and Ka' and had also shot for Rituparna Ghosh's 'Sunglasses' alongside Naseeruddin Shah but the film remains unreleased.
