At the 2024 Emmy Awards, Netflix's Baby Reindeer emerged as a standout, winning big in the limited series categories.

The show earned four prestigious awards, including Best Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series and Best Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Stars Richard Gadd and Jessica Gunning took home top acting honors, making the night unforgettable for the team behind the hit series.

The first win for Baby Reindeer came when Richard Gadd, the creator and star of the series, accepted the award for Best Writing in a Limited Series. In his emotional speech, Gadd reflected on his personal journey, saying, “Ten years ago, I was down and out. I never thought I would get my life together... No matter how bad it gets, it always gets better.”

Gadd returned to the stage shortly after to claim the Best Actor in a Limited Series award, becoming one of the few to win both writing and acting Emmys in the same year - a feat previously achieved by notable stars like Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) and Tina Fey (30 Rock).

In his acceptance speech, Gadd expressed heartfelt gratitude to his parents, stating, “The thing I'm most grateful for is they've never, ever told me what I needed to do with my life, and they never, ever told me who I needed to be. Follow your heart, and the rest will fall into place.”

Baby Reindeer also won the Emmy for Best Limited Series, with Gadd once again taking the stage to share his thoughts on the importance of risk-taking in the entertainment industry. "No slump was ever broken without a willingness to take risks," he remarked, encouraging creators to push boundaries and explore the uncomfortable in television.

Jessica Gunning, who portrayed Martha in Baby Reindeer, won her first Emmy after a 17-year career.

During her acceptance speech, Gunning expressed her deep connection to the project and her gratitude, saying, “I've tried so many times to put into words what working on Baby Reindeer meant to me... I will never, ever forget her or this experience.”

In Baby Reindeer, Gunning plays Martha, a stalker who becomes obsessed with Richard Gadd’s character, Donny, after he offers her a kind gesture. As Martha’s attachment grows into an intense and unsettling relationship, the series explores their deep psychological connection.
