New Delhi: The co-founder of the food-delivery app Zomato, Mohit Gupta, has resigned and become a "long only investor in Zomato", NDTV reported.

The company's message to the market, which announced Gupta's resignation, added his farewell message too.

Gupta said in his message that he would continue building on everything they have learnt so far. He will contribute to building the firm, which is a role model for the globe.

"...I am looking forward to seeing you continue to build on everything we have learnt over the years. Be relentless, keep learning, and build an organisation that is a role model for the rest of the world," NDTV quoted him from his message.

He also praised Zomato co-founder and current CEO Deepinder Goyal as well as the senior staffers for their continous work to make the app a profitable business.

"Over the past few years, I have seen Deepi [Deepinder Goyal] become an even more mature and confident leader who is now completely capable of leading the business into a bright future with all of you by his side," Gupta said.

The consolidated net loss of the food delivery platform Zomato got reduced to Rs 251 crore for the September quarter, it said on Thursday. The net loss was 432 crore during the same quarter in 2021.

Zomato's revenue climbed to reach Rs 1,661 crore in the mentioned quarter, while it was Rs 1,024 crore in the same quarter in 2021. This was a major jump of 62.2 per cent.

"This is the first quarter where we have crossed the billion dollars annualised revenue mark (at $1.05 billion)," Zomato had said in a statement.
