Petrol, diesel prices revision on pause mode for 3rd consecutive day
text_fieldsThe fuel prices continues to be on pause mode as oil marketing companies (OMC) kept the pump prices of petrol and diesel unchanged again on Thursday.
Accordingly, in the national capital, prices on petrol and diesel stood at Rs 80.43 per litre and Rs 80.53 a litre respectively , same level as Tuesday and Wednesday when the OMCs went for a pause and kept the prices unchanged.
The prices remained static across the country as well but the retail levels varied depending on the level of local levies on respective states.
Sources said that oil companies took time to revise petrol and diesel prices downwards earlier as they were covering up for losses incurred on its sale when crude was high and retail prices remained static. Some indications suggest that their was a loss of Rs 4 and Rs 2 per litre on sale of diesel and petrol respectively earlier that had now been more or less covered.
The current decrease in retail costs has not aided in cutting down fuel costs that have crossed Rs 100 per liter (petrol ) mark in a many parts of the country .
Since the start of February crude prices has climbed to more than $7 per barrel which pushed OMCs to raising the fuel costs on 14 occasions by Rs 4.22 per liter for petroleum and by Rs 4.34 a liter for diesel in Delhi.
The petroleum and diesel costs have expanded multiple times in 2021 with the two auto fuels increasing by Rs 7.46 and Rs 7.60 per liter respectively so far this year. This is for the first time that it has fallen this year.
