Dhaka: Adani Group has successfully commissioned India's first transnational power project Godda power plant for Bangladesh.

The Godda power plant, located in Jharkhand, was established by Adani Power to supply electricity to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) through a dedicated transmission line. In June, Adani Power announced that the Godda Plant had become fully operational.

Gautam Adani recently met with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to mark the full load commencement and handover of the 1,600 MW ultra super critical Godda power plant.

He tweeted, "Honoured to have met Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina on full load commencement and handover of the 1600 MW Ultra Super Critical Godda Power Plant. I salute the dedicated teams from India and Bangladesh who braved Covid to commission the plant in record time of three-and-a-half years."

Adani Power Jharkhand Limited (APJL), a subsidiary of Adani Power Limited, achieved commercial operations for the second unit of the 2 x 800 MW Godda Ultra supercritical thermal power plant on June 26. The company stated that the reliability run rest, including commercial operation tests, was completed on June 25 with the presence of officials from BPDB and Power Grid Corporation of Bangladesh (PGCB).

The first unit of the power plant, with a capacity of 800 MW, began commercial operations in April this year. The power supply from the Godda USCTPP to Bangladesh's grid will enhance energy security in the country.

Gautam Adani had previously met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her visit to India in September last year, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.
