Kuwaiti charities expand aid projects ahead of Eid Al Adha

Kuwaiti charitable organisations have expanded humanitarian and development activities ahead of Eid Al Adha through relief projects and cooperation initiatives in several countries.

In Egypt, the Kuwait Office for Charity Projects in Cairo signed a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House to support underprivileged and low-income families.

The signing ceremony was attended by Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt Ghanim Al-Ghanim.

The agreement was signed by Engineer Jamal Al-Majdali, Director of the Kuwait Office for Charity Projects, and Dr Sahar Naser, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Zakat House.

Al-Tayeb praised cooperation between Kuwait and Egypt in humanitarian and charitable work, stressing the importance of continued support for projects targeting vulnerable groups.

Ambassador Al-Ghanim said ties between the two countries reflected strong cooperation and shared commitment to humanitarian efforts.

Al-Majdali said the agreement includes a donation of 3.881 million Egyptian pounds ($73,464) from donor Dr Majda Al-Yatama to support students from poor and orphaned families.

Dr Naser thanked Kuwaiti organisations for supporting disadvantaged families across Egypt.

Meanwhile, Nama Charity, affiliated with the Social Reform Society, carried out aid projects in Gaza and Benin.

In Gaza, the organisation distributed drinking water and vegetable baskets to more than 1,000 families and over 4,000 people amid worsening humanitarian conditions.

Officials said the program aims to ease shortages of food and water affecting vulnerable communities, particularly children, women and elderly residents.

In Benin, Nama Charity distributed 400 food baskets, carried out 200 eye surgeries and organised the slaughter and distribution of 12 cattle at a total cost exceeding KWD15,000 ($48,000).

The projects targeted communities facing limited access to food, clean water and essential services, while the eye surgery program helped restore sight for several patients.

Officials said Kuwaiti donors continue to play an important role in sustaining humanitarian programmes and supporting long-term development projects in vulnerable regions.
