Kuwaiti data specialist Kholoud Al-Ajmi has won second place in a Gulf-wide competition celebrating innovation in data analysis and digital technologies.
Al-Ajmi received the award in the statistical analysis and data visualisation category for her project, “Malath Platform”, during the Youth Creativity in the World of Data Awards held in Doha.
The competition brought together young participants from across the Gulf interested in data science, statistics and digital innovation.
Organisers said the awards, launched to coincide with Gulf Youth Day, are open to Gulf nationals aged between 18 and 34 and aim to identify emerging talent in data-related fields.
The initiative seeks to encourage innovative uses of data analysis and support a new generation capable of turning data into knowledge that can contribute to informed decision-making and improved quality of life.
The awards are organised through a partnership involving Qatar’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Statistics Center of Qatar and the Gulf Statistical Center.
Organisers said the program forms part of broader efforts to promote data literacy, strengthen skills in data analysis and support sustainable development across the region.
Speaking during the event, Dr Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of Qatar’s National Planning Council, said societies today face increasingly complex challenges that require reliable information and effective analysis.
He said the key challenge is no longer simply collecting data, but understanding, analysing and extracting insights that can improve lives and support better decision-making.
