Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has highlighted the role of Kuwaiti women in diplomacy, saying they continue to make important contributions at the ministry’s headquarters and in diplomatic missions overseas.
In a statement issued to mark the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, observed annually on June 24, the ministry praised Kuwaiti women for representing the country at regional and international forums.
The ministry said women account for 21 per cent of Kuwait’s diplomatic corps, with 145 women diplomats serving across headquarters and foreign missions.
It added that 65 Kuwaiti women, including diplomats and administrative staff, are currently working at the country’s diplomatic missions abroad.
Kuwaiti women are represented in 47 diplomatic missions worldwide, while three women hold the post of Assistant Foreign Minister, the ministry said.
