Kuwait City: Kuwait has strongly condemned Iran’s reported drone attack on a UAE oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, calling the incident a “hostile act” and a direct threat to maritime security.
In an official statement, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates. It affirmed its unwavering support for all measures taken by the country to safeguard its security, stability, and national interests. The ministry reiterated Kuwait’s firm commitment to standing by the UAE amid escalating regional tensions.
The statement underscored that targeting commercial vessels and endangering maritime navigation constitute a blatant violation of international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. It further warned that such actions pose serious risks not only to regional stability but also to the integrity of global supply chains, particularly in a critical energy transit corridor.
Kuwait also stressed the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted flow of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and other key international waterways. It highlighted that any disruption in these routes could have far-reaching economic and geopolitical consequences.
Calling for restraint, Kuwait urged all parties to refrain from using maritime routes as tools of political pressure or coercion. The ministry emphasised the need for collective international efforts to maintain peace, security, and freedom of navigation in vital sea lanes.
The condemnation comes amid growing concerns over security in the Gulf region, with increasing incidents threatening global energy and trade flows.
