New York: US President Joe Biden recently surprised a gathering at the White House event claiming that his administration ended cancer in the US.

The gaffe, like many of his previous ones, quickly made many on social media to roll their eyes, some laughing at it.

Biden was speaking about widening access to mental health care when he spoke offhand about cancer.

Further, he expanded on his ‘unity agenda’ to tackle mental health crisis in the nation.

The Newsweek reported that the President began speaking about Covid 19 situation, which he said showed ‘the need for a lot more help’.

‘One of the things I'm always asked is why Americans have sort of lost faith for a while in being able to do big things. If you could do anything at all, Joe, what would you do? I said I'd cure cancer. They looked at me like, why cancer? Because no one thinks we can. That's why, and we can. We ended cancer as we know it,’ the president was quoted as saying.

The widely circulated footage of the speech caused a flurry of comments with one user saying ‘Joe Biden lied about curing cancer’.

Another used attacked the president personally saying ‘Braindead Joe Biden said 'we ended cancer as we know it.' Did I miss something? I don't remember this breakthrough.’

Joe Biden frequently lands himself in similar gaffes most recently with jumbling the names of presidents of Russia and Ukraine in a speech.

He referred Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as ‘Vladimir’ when speaking at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Biden quickly corrected himself in the following sentence.
