New Delhi: United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will arrive in India on Monday for an official visit. This will be his third visit to India since assuming office as UAE President and his fifth visit to the country over the past decade.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit builds on the strong momentum generated by recent high-level exchanges between the two countries. These include the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in September 2024, and the visit of UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, as well as Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in April 2025.

The MEA said India and the UAE share warm, close and multi-faceted relations, anchored in strong political, cultural and economic ties. The two nations are among each other’s top trading and investment partners, supported by key frameworks such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the Local Currency Settlement (LCS) system and the Bilateral Investment Treaty.

The statement added that India and the UAE also enjoy a robust energy partnership, including long-term energy supply arrangements.

“The visit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to chart new frontiers for the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It will also enable an exchange of views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, where India and the UAE share a high degree of convergence,” the MEA said.

In December last year, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar co-chaired the 16th Joint Commission and the 5th Strategic Dialogue with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.

During the meetings, the two sides reviewed all aspects of the India–UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and identified key priorities for future cooperation.

In a post on X, Jaishankar said, “In today’s world, deeper India–UAE cooperation advances shared interests and contributes to regional and global stability.”

During the dialogue, the External Affairs Minister highlighted the significant growth in bilateral trade, investments, fintech and digital connectivity following the implementation of CEPA and the Bilateral Investment Treaty. He also underlined the vast potential in connectivity and logistics, both bilaterally and through initiatives such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

Jaishankar further underscored the expansion of energy collaboration, with a particular focus on civil nuclear cooperation, strengthening educational ties and cultural exchanges, and consolidating defence and security cooperation.

In July last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during a telephone conversation, the MEA said in a statement.

The two leaders positively assessed the remarkable progress made across various sectors of bilateral cooperation and emphasised the need to further deepen collaboration for the shared benefit of the peoples of both countries.

During the call, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated Prime Minister Modi on becoming the second-longest-serving Prime Minister in India’s history and wished him continued success.

Prime Minister Modi thanked the UAE President for his gracious wishes and for the affection expressed towards the people of India.

“The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen ties to serve mutual interests while fostering sustainable development and prosperity for their peoples. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed their keenness to further strengthen relations in line with their shared vision to leverage opportunities for greater prosperity,” the UAE President’s office said after the phone call.
