Announcing the decision on Truth Social, Trump said, “I am pleased to announce that I am promoting Sergio Gor to be our next United States Ambassador to the Republic of India, and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs. Sergio and his team have hired nearly 4,000 America First Patriots across every Department of our Federal Government in RECORD time — Our Departments and Agencies are over 95% filled!”
Trump described Gor as a “great friend” and highlighted his close association with the Trump family. “He worked on my historic presidential campaigns, published my best-selling books, and ran one of the biggest Super PACs, which supported our movement. For the most populous region in the world, it is important that I have someone I can fully trust to deliver on my agenda and help us MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Sergio will make an incredible Ambassador. Congratulations Sergio!” he added.
Gor, who co-founded Winning Team Publishing with Donald Trump Jr., has been central to Trump’s political and publishing ventures. Responding to his nomination, Gor expressed gratitude on X, saying, “Nothing has made me prouder than to serve the American people through the GREAT work of this Administration!” Gor said on X. “It will be the honor of my life to represent the United States!” He thanked Trump for his “incredible trust and confidence”, calling the appointment a milestone in his career.
In his White House role, Gor has overseen the vetting of senior personnel across government, including the short-lived nomination of tech billionaire Jared Isaacman to lead NASA, which was withdrawn in June.
Gor will remain in his current position until Senate confirmation. He will succeed Eric Garcetti, who served as US ambassador in New Delhi from May 2023 until January 2025. Since Garcetti’s departure, interim Charge d’Affaires Jorgan K Andrews has been leading the US Embassy in India.
