Strike on Iran ‘TONIGHT’; will seize Kharg Island: Trump

Washington: US President Donald Trump has intensified pressure on Iran by warning of possible military action, raising fresh concerns over the future of diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump indicated that a major attack on Iran could be launched as early as tonight. The warning came amid growing uncertainty surrounding negotiations between the two countries and has heightened fears of renewed instability in West Asia.

“The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT,” Trump wrote.

Trump also announced plans aimed at targeting Iran’s economic infrastructure. He indicated that the United States would move against key oil production facilities, including the strategically important Kharg Island, and seek greater control over Iran’s oil and gas sector. The proposal signals a significant escalation in economic pressure on Tehran.

“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America,” he wrote.

The latest remarks have also fuelled speculation that the threat could be part of a broader strategy to secure concessions from Iran during negotiations. Trump has previously issued strong military warnings against Tehran before later pointing to diplomatic progress.

Tensions have further increased following recent US military action in the Gulf of Oman. According to reports, American forces destroyed three commercial vessels accused of attempting to transport crude oil in violation of US sanctions on Iran.

The incident was followed by Iran’s announcement that it would completely close the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy corridor and a major route for Iranian oil exports. The move has intensified concerns over international energy supplies and shipping routes.

With diplomatic efforts facing mounting strain and both sides adopting increasingly confrontational positions, the latest developments have added to fears that the standoff between the United States and Iran could deepen further, carrying significant implications for regional stability and global energy markets.
