Seychelles to reopen borders for vaccinated Indian tourists

Seychelles: The Seychelles Public Health Authority has announced that it will be allowing visitors from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh on the condition of providing a vaccination certificate as well as a gap of two weeks between vaccination and travelling. Seychelles is a group of about 90 islands in the western Indian Ocean to the north of Madagascar.

Travellers are also required to take an RT-PCR test 72 hours before travelling and will not have to undergo any quarantine once they reach the country. Children and those under 18 will only be required to undergo the PCR test.

Seychelles was one of the first countries to open borders for tourism on March 25th after an aggressive vaccination campaign was put in place. Tourists will still be required to follow all COVID-19 protocols like mask-wearing, sanitisation and social distancing.

In January, Seychelles began the rollout of 50,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine and has currently almost achieved its target of vaccinating 70% of the population. The Associated Press reports that 58% of the population are fully vaccinated, with 69% having received the first dose.
