Pakistan floods: Death count reaches 1,314

Islamabad: The severe catastrophic floods hitting Pakistan have raised the death toll to 1,314. The country weather agency forecast more rains for the coming days and warned of landslides in the northern areas, IANS reported.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) updated that 24 deaths were added to the tally in the last 24 hours, hiking the toll due to rains that started in mid-June, IANS reports citing Xinhua news agency.

In the mentioned one day, 115 people were also injured, as the total number of injured reached 12,703. NDMA stated that a total of 1,682,726 houses got destroyed, and around 7,50,405 livestock were lost. At least 6,33,091 people are residing in relief camps at the moment, NDMA added.

In addition to predicted rains in the country, the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast thundershower with isolated heavy falls for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan region and parts of Punjab province till Tuesday. In parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rains are predicted until Monday.
