Meghan Markle has been targeted by a hate campaign on Twitter and has received about 80% of the hate. A new report found that the Duchess of Sussex has been prey to a coordinated hate and misinformation campaign.

The Twitter analytics provider Bot Sentinel's report shows that both Meghan and Prince Harry have been targeted. 83 Twitter accounts were identified to be behind 70% of the anti-Sussex tweets. 114,000 tweets related to the couple were analysed before arriving at a conclusion, reported The Guardian.

Bot Sentinel has singled out 55 accounts that had the sole purpose of spreading hate. 28 were secondary hate accounts that amplified the primary accounts. These accounts have a collective total of 187,631 followers and have the potential to reach 17 million Twitter users. The analysis found that the pattern of interaction between the accounts was not organic.

Christopher Bouzy, Bot Sentinel's chief executive, told The Washington Post that they found very little evidence of bot activity and the accounts seem to be used by humans. The report found that some of the tweets used coded racist language, and the pattern indicates a coordinated effort to harass the couple.

Bouzy said that this particular campaign has no motive and is unlike anything his team has seen before. He said they could only guess that maybe these Twitter users are trying to hurt the Sussexes' credibility or simply hate them, reported BuzzFeed News.

Four accounts found by the analysis were already suspended by Twitter. The activity among the accounts dropped noticeably after the report was published, reported the Washington Post.
