text_fieldsTexas: Former US Navy SEAL who claimed to have shot dead terrorist Osama bin Laden was arrested in Texas Wednesday on charges of causing body injury.
Robert O'Neil was released on a USD 3,500 bond the same day, the New York Post reported.
Osama bin Landen was killed in 2011 in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad.
Robert O'Neil was booked on a Class A misdemeanour charge of assault and a Class C misdemeanour of public intoxication.
However, now he faces only the assault charge as per reports based on jail records.
O'Neill gained attention after he claimed that he killed Laden and recounted the story in his 2017 memoir ‘ The Operator’.
Despite the book and his claims, the US government chose not to confirm the story, The New York Post reported.
O'Neill was arrested previously in 2016 for drunk driving in Montana but prosecutors later dropped charges.
