Melbourne: A video emerged from Australia showed pro-Khalistani groups attacking people marching with Indian flags in Melbourne.

Just as the group began to rough up, the apparently peaceful marchers got scattered and ran away for safety.

In the midst of the attack, one of the assailants was seen throwing away an Indian flag on the road.

The Australia Today reported that five people were hospitalized in the attack.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa condemned what he said "anti-India activities" by pro-Khalistani in Australia.

"I strongly condemn anti-India activities by pro-Khalistani in Australia. Anti-social elements that are trying to disrupt the peace & harmony of the country with these activities, must be dealt with strongly and culprits must be brought to books," he tweeted.

Sarah L Gates, director of Hindu Human Rights Australasia, posted the video on Twitter.

Gates also tweeted that the mob assaulted a lone Indian youth who was carrying a tricolor.

Indians previously notified the Victoria Police of their plan for a protest at the Federation Square in Melbourne against the pro-Khalistan activities in the country, according to Australia Today.

One of the assailants, who charged towards the crowd with a sword, was arrested, reports said.

The Victoria Police said two men involved the incident were arrested slapping the charges for “riotous behavior” .

Only the other day Hindu temples in Melbourne were set on fire in a targeted attack.
